The findings of the latest PwC Family Business Survey and a
unique insight into how the Midlands' family businesses are coping,
competing and planning for the future will be revealed at a Forum
in Birmingham next month.
The Family Business Forum takes place on Thursday 10th February
2011 and has guest speakers from PwC and deWinton-Williams
Consulting, award-winning specialists in training, selection,
development, sales, business development and client
relationships.
The event is being organised by specialist insurance and
financial advisers The Wilson Organisation, which is itself in the
third generation of family ownership, and is the latest in its
programme of events for the region's family businesses, which
includes The Midlands Family Business Awards.
Wilsons' Managing Director Charlotte Prow, explains: "Our Family
Business Forums aim to provide a friendly, informative and relaxed
opportunity for family business owners and leaders to meet and
discuss challenges, issues and opportunities. As siblings running a
third generation business, we founded the Forums in late 2007 when
we realised that there were very few networking opportunities
specifically for family businesses. Since the first Forum we've met
many inspiring people and made some good friends.
"This event has been designed for family business owners and
will look at the challenges they are currently facing to ensure
sustainability. It promises to be interesting and informative, with
an impressive line-up of guest speakers who have a focus on family
businesses.
"Last year, PwC talked to more than 1,600 family businesses
owners across thirty-five countries for their second Family
Business Survey, the largest of its kind ever to be conducted. PwC
has agreed to utilise the Forum to unveil the findings of the
2010/2011 Survey and what they reveal about how family businesses
are dealing with opportunities and challenges, conflict resolution
and succession planning. Delegates will gain a unique and rare
insight into how their peers in the Midlands are coping, competing
and planning for the future too."
She adds: "Dr Gwenllian Williams of deWinton-Williams Consulting
is recognised for her appreciation of family businesses and the
challenges of running a business alongside family members. As our
second guest speaker at the Forum, she will investigate the
psychology of the family business and provide an insight into how
family businesses owners and managers can drive success by
maximising the capability of its people."
The West Midlands Family Business Forum is free to attend and
takes place from 12 noon to 2.30pm on Thursday 10th February 2011
at Hotel du Vin, Birmingham. To reserve a place, contact Wilsons'
