One of the Midlands' leading planning consultancies has
rebranded as it waits to hear if it has won a prestigious industry
award.
Brooke Smith Planning - previously known as CSJ Brooke Smith -
is one of three finalists selected from across the UK for the Small
Planning Consultancy of the Year awards run by the Royal Town
Planning Institute (RTPI).
The ten-strong firm, based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, will hear
if it has won at an awards ceremony and presentation to be held in
London on Thursday 3 February 2010.
Brooke Smith Planning highlighted four schemes as part of its
submission. These included obtaining permission for:
• A listed building change of use for the Grade II Art Deco
Pitmaston building in Moseley Birmingham, formerly the home of
Ideal Insurance
• The redevelopment of the Glebe Road housing area,
Stratford-on-Avon for Orbit Housing
• Walsall Retail Park at Bescot
• A waste to energy plant for Blakeley's in Wigan.
All types of planning consultancy activity and businesses were
eligible for the award. The shortlisted practices, chosen for their
outstanding working practice, their professional ethos and the
quality of their work over the last year, made presentations to the
RTPI judges in December.
MD Louise Brooke-Smith said: "We are really pleased that the
work of the practice, which we are delighted to have rebranded for
2011, has been recognised by the most prominent planning institute
in the world. As an independent, highly creative and energetic
planning consultancy, all of us here at Brooke Smith Planning are
proud of the work achieved over the past year.
"Our workload, both in terms of quantity and quality of
instructions, continues to grow and we look forward to continued
success through 2011 and beyond."
The firm will be attending MIPIM in March this year and
continues to have affiliate links to practices in London, Leeds and
Bristol.
