Rapid Racking reinforces relationship with Nightfreight

Attention to customer detail and outstanding service levels has secured national supply chain specialist Nightfreight a further three and a half year contract with the UK's largest storage solutions supplier Rapid Racking.

The seven figure contract will see Rapid Racking outsourcing all onward deliveries for the first time, after previously operating its own in-house fleet.

Willenhall based Nightfreight will manage the complete outbound delivery of Rapid Racking's full product range including pallet racking, shelving and containers from its Gloucestershire site to its B2B and B2C customers nationwide.

The national supply chain specialist will operate five dedicated vehicles from its Risley, Southall, Willenhall and Pucklechurch sites, supported by its national 'shared use' network of 53 depots.

Nightfreight's strength is its ability to deliver a cost effective distribution solution for Rapid Racking, because of its nationwide depot infrastructure of dedicated vehicles, supported by its leading B2B delivery network for smaller consignments.

Latest wireless hand-held technology will be employed to manage the delivery of over 9,000 consignments per year.

Phil Davies, customer fulfilment manager at Rapid Racking, explained that Nightfreight had provided an exceptional service for the last six years.

He said: "This strong partnership will help us significantly improve service levels and process orders faster than ever before.

"By outsourcing all our outbound deliveries, we will be able to take advantage of Nightfreight's full range of multi-delivery channels to ensure we're delivering a first class service to our UK commercial and retail customers.

"Nightfreight provides our business with complete flexibility being able to adapt to changes within our business and we see this relationship being strengthened over the next three and half years."

Ian Smith, chief executive officer at Nightfreight, said: "Nightfreight has once again provided a cost effective, customer focused and flexible nationwide distribution solution for a leading UK customer.

"Our six-year relationship has seen us offering variable charging methods on a 'pay as you go' basis and flexible delivery solutions to accommodate high volume seasonal periods.

"As their third party logistics provider, Rapid Racking can capitalize on the much greater benefits of our shared network, which is designed to deliver a first class customer experience.

"We believe in going the extra mile to ensure all our contracts are fulfilled to a world-class standard and we foster successful and long lasting partnerships."

Established in 1984, Nightfreight offers four main delivery channels as either stand alone services or multi configurable options including single parcel express and non-standard freight, two-man shared user home delivery nationwide, a specialist warehousing, handling and installation 'white glove' service and dedicated logistics.
