Peak prizes on offer at premier caravanning show

Instant prizes to make the most of a holiday in the Peak District and Derbyshire will set visitors on the road to a memorable break at the North West's premier caravanning and motorhome show.

Anyone who visits official tourist board Visit Peak District & Derbyshire's stand - Z13 in Hall 3 - at The Caravan and Motorhome Show 2011 at Manchester Central (formerly GMEX) will get the chance to win a variety of treats to make their stay in the area even more special.

Among the prizes on offer will be a free year's membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club, plus a four-day stay at its Ashbourne Club Site, on the fringe of the Peak District National Park.

Growing interest in camping and caravanning across the UK has persuaded the tourist board to exhibit at the four-day event, open from Thursday January 20 to Sunday January 23.

Visit Peak District & Derbyshire and key commercial partners The Camping and Caravanning Club, Glossop Caravans and Yeoman's will be among 100 exhibitors at the show, targeted at both enthusiasts and newcomers to caravan, motorhome and camping holidays.

"Camping and caravanning are an increasingly attractive option for people of all ages looking for flexible, value-for-money leisure breaks - whether they're planning to get away as a couple, as a family or with friends," said David Thornton, Head of Marketing and Deputy Chief Executive at the tourist board.

"And as more and more people are tightening their belts still further in 2011, they're bound to become even more popular.

"Our message to visitors at the Caravan and Motorhome Show is that the Peak District is the perfect location for an enjoyable weekend or longer break.

"Not only are we ideally situated and easy to reach - right at the heart of the UK - we've got some of the country's finest scenery, world-class attractions and theme parks, quality accommodation and locally-produced food and drink.

"I hope as many people as possible will visit our stand, plus those of our partners, to discover the wealth of choice the area has to offer for themselves, as well taking the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes."

Visit Peak District & Derbyshire's new-look Visitor Guide 2011 - hot off the press - and other publications showing the area's assets, including a Camping and Caravanning Guide - will be available on the tourist board's stand.

Yeoman's will run a Tent Pitching Championship to encourage visitors to race against the clock to pitch their tent in super quick time to win one of the company's tents, while representatives from the Camping and Caravanning Club will be on hand to answer questions and offer useful advice.

Glossop Caravans - which recently celebrated its grand re-opening a year after fire devastated its Dinting site - will feature a selection of exclusively designed, limited edition models among the range displayed on its stand.

Other attractions will be a theatre hosting cookery and expert talks, farmers' market and Gulliver's KidZone.

Advance tickets to the Caravan and Motorhome Show 2011 cost £6.50 (£8 on the door), and children aged 16 and under go free.
