A major player within the building contractor arena, Speller
Metcalfe, has opened a new Small Works Office in Malvern
specifically to support the firm's expanding contract market which
covers all sectors of the construction industry from education,
public services, leisure, listed buildings, scheduled monument
works, new builds, to specialist sectors like Eco-builds, including
sustainable homes designed to meet the highest level possible of
zero carbon build, code level 6.
Dealing with projects from £0.1m upwards, Speller
Metcalfe's new Small Works office team is headed by Director Bill
Cave, who stated: "Investment in our new Small Works facility will
support a range of one-off projects from NHS hospitals to heritage
works. As a small and close knit team with a non-contractual /
adversarial working approach, we are well placed to deliver a
seamless, diverse and skilled group approach to any given
project."
In order to respond to the global need to reduce buildings
environmental impact, particularly in terms of CO² emissions,
Speller Metcalfe's skill at Ecobuilding has recently delivered the
firm award recognition, scooping a prestigious RIBA award for its
innovative design and construction methods used in the Tindal
Street Zero Carbon House project in Birmingham, design by John
Christophers, and one of only two RIBAs awarded in the West
Midlands Region throughout 2010.
The Small Works team currently consists of three contract
managers, four quantity surveyors, as well as a number of on-site
specialists including ground works staff, carpenters, site managers
and foremen.
Said Bill: "Supporting the delivery of an enhanced contract
build service both in terms of building infrastructure and IT
business capabilities, our new Small Works office is already paying
major dividends for both our office-based staff and on-site
teams."
With offices in Malvern, Gloucester and London, Speller Metcalfe
continues to expand gaining a solid reputation in both conventional
and Ecobuild contract build arenas.
