The business benefits of joining the online networking
phenomenon LinkedIn will be explained at a presentation at
Yorkshire Bank in Nottingham.
LinkedIn, which is the world's largest professional network with
over 80 million members, connects business people to their contacts
as well as having the opportunity to exchange knowledge, ideas and
business opportunities with other registered users.
The advantages of joining the growing business network will be
discussed in a talk by Rob Wilmot from Nottingham-based digital,
creative and PR company BCS.
Rob, who co-founded Freeserve, will talk about his experiences
of using LinkedIn on a day-to-day basis to build, maintain and
extend relationships which are mutually beneficial.
Around 25 people are due to attend the presentation at Yorkshire
Bank's Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) in Castle Meadow Road on
Wednesday, February 9, between 5.30pm and 7pm.
Robin Kirkwood, business banking partner at Yorkshire Bank in
Nottingham, said the evening was aimed at helping people get the
most out of online networking.
"LinkedIn provides a great opportunity for businessmen and women
to create real value for their business in a cost-effective
manner," he said.
"This presentation is aimed at creating awareness of the art of
LinkedIn and highlighting the potential business that can be
gained.
"Not only has LinkedIn proved to generate business in a wide
sector of industries but it enables people to get messages out into
the business community.
"Social networking is now a key driver in meeting new contacts,
keeping in touch with existing contacts, identifying experts and
generating ideas.
"We hope everyone will leave the presentation with more
knowledge than they had when they arrived - including me!"
