Don't worry about not speaking the lingo, there's a chance to
bring back great holiday memories or simply revel in a taste of
Europe, next month.
Lincoln BIG is welcoming the return of a popular Continental
Market, which will be open for business from Friday, March 4
to Sunday, March 6.
Stalls will be laden down with mouthwatering foods and unusual
crafts from countries including France, Germany, Holland, Spain,
Italy and Poland and other European destinations.
People can browse, shop and share a joke with the traders
between 9am and 5.30pm, on the Friday and Saturday - and between
10am and 4pm on the Sunday.
Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong
said: "The market will feature stalls selling giant Bratwurst
cooked on a traditional German Schewenkgrille, Spanish paella
cooked by Julian Jimenez from Cordoba in Spain, crepes, specialist
cheeses from France and Holland, olives, dried fruit and nuts, and
there will be a great Greek delicatessen.
"As well as the food, people will be able to choose from a
wonderful selection of non-edible products, such as jewellery,
pashminas, bags, belts, wooden carvings and all sorts of
gifts."
Lincoln BIG has worked in partnership with Market Place (Europe)
Ltd - the brains behind the visiting market - in the
past.
Market Place director Allan Hartwell said: "We organised a
number of events in Lincoln, up to a couple of years ago, including
the very popular Irish Craft Market, as part of Lincoln's
Flower Festival, and two continental markets - one in the city
centre and the Eastern European Market around St Mark's.
"After a short break, we are absolutely delighted to have been
invited back. Lincoln is a great city and our traders receive
a great welcome."
The Market is being made possible thanks to support from the
European Regional Development Fund.
The event ties in with the annual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend
when tourists and local are encouraged to take a closer look at
numerous county attractions, for free.
