The Pension Act 2008 is due to come into force in 2012, and with
this comes the legal duty upon employers to ensure that they enrol
most employees into a pension scheme and contribute to their
retirement. The countdown has already begun, but are
employers ready for these compulsory pensions?
This issue will be the main feature of forthcoming Employment
Law and Pensions Seminars being held by Lanyon Bowdler, in
association with Torquil Clark, during March 2011. The events
will be held across the Shropshire and Herefordshire area, and
following the opening of Lanyon Bowdler's office in Hereford on 1st
December 2010, attendance at the firm's first seminar in the town
is offered free of charge.

Ian Hill, Pensions Technical Manager of Torquil Clark will be
providing valuable guidance in respect of compulsory pension
enrolment.
John Merry, the head of Lanyon Bowdler's Employment department,
will focus on the employment law aspects of pension changes,
including managing salary reviews to achieve economies to off-set
pension costs, and also the impact of pensions on maternity and
paternity rights. In addition, John will provide a general
employment law update.
All seminars will commence at 9.00am, with presentations
starting at 9.30am, closing at approximately 1.00pm. The cost
is just £17.50 plus VAT, which will include food and
refreshments.
