A new partnership has led to four previously unemployed people
finding work at a new city store.
The quartet was helped back to work through employment and
skills specialists Working Links' partnership with home, leisure
and garden store The Range as the latter opened a new store in
Erdington, Birmingham.
The candidates were put through their paces at a Working Links
retail routeway - a training course designed to get them ready for
life working in a retail environment.
Working Links also hosted all of The Range's interviews at their
New Street office, working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus.
Managers from The Range were so impressed the service offered
they have agreed to provide ten placement opportunities for
16-18-year-olds on Working Links' NEETs (Not in Education,
Employment or Training) programme, enabling the youngsters to gain
valuable work experience in the retail sector.
The Range's Dave Garland said: "I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the Working Links team for the help and
assistance they provided related to the recruitment of staff for
our new store in Birmingham.
"I was delighted with the level of support that we received. I
found the Working Links team to be extremely professional. I was
impressed with their enthusiasm and commitment in helping us
achieve our goal of recruiting our new store team."
Mike Brennan, Performance Manager at Working Links Birmingham,
said: "I was very pleased with the outcome of four job
opportunities and the ten work placements which reflects the hard
work and commitment from the team."
