The winner of the first ever Midlands Family Business of the
Year Award, Penny Hydraulics, will raise the curtain on its success
story at a forum event for family businesses in Nottingham next
month.
Lifting equipment manufacturer Penny Hydraulics based in
Derbyshire, was crowned the Midlands Family Business of the Year in
November 2010.
The company's Managing Director Tim Penny and Finance Director
David Battrum are guest speakers at the Wilsons Family Business
Forum on the 3rd February at The Carriage Hall, Plumtree, when they
will tell the story of their successful family firm that has been
in the engineering business for over thirty years.
The Forum is being organised by specialist insurance and
financial advisers The Wilson Organisation, which is itself in the
third generation of family ownership, and is the latest in its
programme of events for the region's family businesses, which
includes The Midlands Family Business Awards.

Hydraulics has recently won a number of awards for its products as
well as their business, including the Midlands Family Business of
the Year Award. At the Forum, Tim will share his experiences and
challenges of managing such a highly regarded family business, as
well as of working with the family.

deWinton-Williams Consulting, award-winning specialists in
training, selection, development, sales, business development and
client relationships.
"Dr Williams is recognised for her appreciation of family
businesses and the challenges of running a business alongside
family members. At the Forum she will investigate the psychology of
the family business and provide an insight into how family
businesses owners and managers can drive success by maximising the
capability of its people."
She adds: "This event, the first in our 2011 programme, has been
designed specifically for family business owners and promises to be
interesting and informative, with an impressive line-up of guest
speakers who have a focus on family businesses."
The East Midlands Family Business Forum is free to attend and
takes place from 5.30pm to 9.00pm on Thursday 3rd February 2011 at
