Midlands law firm Wright Hassall played host to the first
meeting of the Coventry and Warwickshire branch of the Association
of Women's Solicitors (AWS) under its new chair.
Claire-Elaine Arthurs of Wright Hassall's property team took on
the role of chair late last year and staged her first event, 'A New
Year, A New You' at the firm's Olympus Avenue offices.
More than 45 women from the local legal community turned out to
network and listen to three guest speakers, Jane Gaunt from Michael
Page, who also sponsored the event, Anna Mason of Distance Dieters
and Lyn Mason of First Impressions.
Christl Hughes, national chair of the AWS, was also in
attendance to show her support for the new branch and Claire-Elaine
declared the night a resounding success.
She said: "This event signalled a really positive start to the
year for our branch.
"The event attracted very good feedback and, as a result, a
number of attendees have chosen to become members.
"We had a variety of speakers discussing everything from how to
progress your career in a changing market, to healthy eating for a
hectic lifestyle, to managing your image.
"Some of the people who attended are already following-up on
what they heard and potentially doing business with people they
met.
"Ensuring our members receive a tangible benefit from being a
member of their local AWS branch is very important to our
committee.
"This event was a fantastic starting point and we are hoping to
stage events like this at least once every couple of months."
