Businesses are invited to an event showcasing cutting edge
university expertise in the energy sector.
Organisations from both the private and public sector can find
out how to collaborate with experts at the University of
Birmingham, Loughborough University, and the University of
Nottingham at the event on Friday, March 4, 2011.
The event will showcase the extensive research activities of
these three world-class universities, which are brought together by
the Midlands Energy Consortium (MEC).
Experts at the three universities are all working in areas which
will change the way we generate, store, save and manage energy in
the 21st century.
Specific areas of expertise include fuel cells, hydrogen
production and storage, solar, wind and biomass energy, clean
fossil fuels and carbon abatement technologies, demand reduction
and management in buildings, power electronics and electrical
networks, sustainable societies: economics, policies, practices and
impacts and sustainable transport, advanced engines and
systems.
Businesses can find out how to benefit from this expertise
through an Energy Networked Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), a
scheme designed to identify, define and solve the challenges facing
a business or organisation using the wealth of knowledge at a
university while offering all the benefits of being part of a wider
network.
Attendees will be able to:
Find out how to access Government funding to help them
collaborate with a university on a project specifically designed to
benefit their organisation.
Hear from other businesses which have kept one step ahead thanks
to a KTP.
Network with companies, organisations and academics working in
the energy, transport and sustainability sectors.
Learn more about the Energy Generation and Supply KTN and its
services and find out how it can add value to an organisation.
Consortium Manager Dr Helen Turner said: "If your business
operates in the energy, transport or sustainability sectors or is
reviewing strategic policy in these areas, this event is for you. A
partnership with a university can help a business or organisation
to innovate and grow, and stay one step ahead of the
competition.''
The event takes place at Sir Denis Rooke Building, Loughborough
University, LE11 3TU, from 9.30am to 2pm on Friday, March 4.
The event is free but visitors should register their interest by
emailing b.patel@lboro.ac.uk or telephoning 01509 223446.
