An innovative new form of exercise is set to make a splash in
Coventry as people aim to get in shape for the New Year.
Aqua Zumba, which combines high-intensity Latin dance-inspired
fitness classes with the gentle support of water, has arrived at
the Xcel Leisure Centre in Mitchell Avenue.
Julie Flynn, Lifestyles Manager for Coventry Sports Foundation,
said: "We have always prided ourselves on providing new and
innovative ways for people to improve their fitness.
"This is the only class of its type within a 100-mile radius and
by offering it to our members we are hoping to deliver on our
commitment to provide a wide range of exercise classes with
something for everyone.
"The sessions will allow participants to burn calories and lose
weight fast in the pool and are ideal for those who might be a bit
too shy to dance in front of other people.
"Also, the support offered by the water allows people who may
not be as steady on their feet as others to enjoy the exciting
workout offered by the regular Zumba class."
Aqua Zumba has been introduced after the huge success of the
regular Zumba fitness classes which were launched almost one year
ago and have already seen over 4,000 people take part.
The new 45-minute Aqua Zumba classes will be held at the Xcel
Leisure Centre every Saturday at 12.15pm and the ability to swim is
not essential.
