Move over Simon Cowell, Birmingham's very own musical talent
competition the Y Factor has launched, giving would be singing
sensations from the city's professional community the chance to
perform with an experienced band in front of a live audience.
The event, which is in its second year in Birmingham, is
organised by learning disability charity Mencap and hopes to raise
over £40,000.
Mencap helps to support children and adults with learning
disabilities across the Midlands, and fights to change laws and
services. The charity also aims to provide better access to
education, employment and leisure facilities for individuals with
learning disabilities and to support people with a learning
disability to fulfil their full potential.
Clearwater Corporate Finance LLP, Barclays Corporate, HBJ
Gateley Wareing, DLA Piper, Endless, LDC and RBS are official
supporters of the Y Factor 2011.
Phil Burns, managing partner at Clearwater in Birmingham and
former Y Factor contestant, said: "We are proud to support Mencap

Confirmed performers include professionals from DLA Piper, LDC,
Barclays Corporate, Barclays Private Equity, ISIS Equity Partners,
RBS, Hammonds, KPMG and HBJ Gateley Wareing.
Mencap are asking for anyone who wishes to take part as a
contestant to come forward as there is still one place available.
Fundraising support and advice will be given to all contestants and
vocal coaching and live rehearsals will also be available.
The Y Factor 2011 will be held at the Jam House in Birmingham
from 6pm on March 9th and tickets are available now. Early booking
is recommended for this sell out event @ £25 per person
