Local people in the Keyworth area of Nottinghamshire celebrated
the opening of a new pavilion at the village football club
constructed by William Hill Building Contractors Ltd of Colwick,
Nottinghamshire. The official opening of the new Keyworth United
clubhouse took place on Saturday 11th September at the club's
ground on Platt Lane, Keyworth.
The new building will allow Keyworth United to service its
existing Football Foundation funded pitches by offering the highest
quality facilities to players, officials and spectators and is the
centrepiece in the club's ambitious football development plans. The
new changing facilities are desperately needed in order to meet
demand from existing teams and to accommodate new girls and boys
teams. The clubhouse includes six state-of-the-art team changing
rooms with toilets and showers and two officials' changing rooms
with en-suite facilities. The social side of the building includes
a large function room, kitchen and separate, male, female and
wheelchair accessible toilets.
The latest construction methods have been used to make the new
building as efficient as possible. These include an under floor
heating system zoned to suit the relevant number of changing rooms
being used at any one time and heat recovery ventilation units to
control energy loss. Funding for the new development has been
provided by a variety of partner organisations. The Football
Foundation contributed £514,560 with another £100,000
coming from Nottinghamshire County Council. The balance has been
secured from the club's substantial fund-raising efforts and other
contributions from WREN; Biffaward; Rushcliffe Borough Council;
Keyworth Parish Council; Sport England Community Sport Fund and
East Midlands Airport.
Rob Clegg, Chairman of Keyworth United said: "This is a dream
come true. We've been working towards this for the last ten years
so to see all the hard work come to fruition is something very
special. We are very proud of our FA Charter Standard Community
Club status and the new clubhouse now provides us with the first
class facilities to go with it. The new building will make a real
difference, not just to us but to the whole Keyworth community. It
would never have been possible though without the tremendous
support of the FA and all of our funding partners, particularly the
Football Foundation and Nottinghamshire County Council - we thank
them all for turning our dream into a reality."
David Stone, Co-Director of William Hill Building Contractors
added: "This has been a real team effort and we have enjoyed
working closely with Keyworth United Community Football Club as
well as Allan Joyce Architects for the best part of three years as
the project has evolved. Seeing the young players enjoying the
facilities on Saturday was reward enough for a highly-successful
building project delivered within budget and on time."
