A Shropshire woman is experiencing a sense of de ja vu after starting work at a county solicitors - where she carried out her school work experience 19 years ago.

Joanne Parsons took her first steps into Irelands Mansion on Shrewsbury High Street in 1991 at the age of 15 and can now boast her very own office after taking up the position of a solicitor at Linder Myers in April.

And despite the gap between the last time she worked in the building there are still some faces she recognises.

"Stuart Lister was the senior partner when I attended their offices in 1991 and I was pleasantly surprised that he was still working in the same building, albeit as a consultant with Linder Myers," said Joanne.

"It is almost ironic that, now that Stuart is about to retire from the profession after fifty years of service, I am hoping to continue to act for a number of his long-established clients and personal acquaintances.

"In 1991 I was given tasks such as making tea, photocopying, making deliveries to the local magistrates' court, whereas now I am dealing with complex property transactions in my own office."

Since carrying out that first work experience Joanne went on to study Law gaining an LLB Hons and after completing a Legal Practice Course, started her training with an established firm of solicitors with whom she very soon became a partner, specialising in all areas of property transactions.

In 2010 her circumstances changed and she wanted to return to her roots in Shrewsbury and is now extremely happy to be working for Linder Myers.

"Having a small daughter, myself and my husband (and grandparents) decided we would like to move back to the Shropshire area to be near friends and family," she added.

"I wanted to be near the family but also wanted to work for a national, forward thinking modern firm like Linder Myers.

"I am really enjoying working at a legal firm that is still proud to uphold traditional values, where the client comes first, and being based in my home town of Shrewsbury is an added bonus."

Bill Jarvis, Managing Partner of Linder Myers in Shrewsbury, said: "We were thrilled that Joanne expressed an interest in joining our practice.

"Her reputation in the property world is second to none and her energy, legal knowledge and fantastic communication skills have proved what an excellent investment she is to the practice and what a wonderful find she will be for clients of Linder Myers."
