As committed Investors in People, Shropshire's largest law firm
Lanyon Bowdler are delighted to introduce newly qualified solicitor
Elise Hyland who has been with the firm since 2001.
Elise joined Lanyon Bowdler's property department as a junior
conveyancing assistant and commenced her route into law through
training as a Legal Executive, both at Shrewsbury College and at
home by way of distance learning. Through development and in-house
training, Elise was given more responsibility and gradually built
her own case load, which enabled her to gain the experience she
needed to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives
(FILEX) in 2006.
After gaining FILEX status, Elise undertook the Common
Professional Exam (CPE), which non-law graduates take as a
conversion route into law. After passing the CPE Elise
enrolled on a Legal Practice Course, which she has now completed.
The Legal Practice Course (LPC) has to be completed by law
and non-law graduates, it is taken after completion of the CPE, and
is the next step to becoming a solicitor.
Elise showed her dedication by completing both the CPE and LPC
at Wolverhampton University on a part time basis where the lectures
took place in the evenings. Elise continued in her fee
earning role with Lanyon Bowdler during the day, which is an
essential part of qualifying as a solicitor through the ILEX route.
Finally, she completed 12 months training with the firm in
various departments to experience law in a diversity of areas,
before qualifying as a solicitor at the beginning of September.
She is now based in the firm's private client department in
Shrewsbury.
It has been a long but rewarding route into law for Elise, and
she has gained immense experience from her time training through
the ILEX route. Elise comments "I could not have done this
without the support of my family, friends and work colleagues.
Lanyon Bowdler has provided continuous support along the way,
for which I am very grateful."
