Schoolchildren at Greenfields Community School in Nottingham
have been busy decorating plant pots to welcome their new
neighbours in environmentally friendly Green Street.
Children from the primary school, which is near to the new
contemporary housing development in the Meadows, were asked to
paint the flowerpots with vibrant, colourful designs to celebrate
the sale of the homes.
The owners of the first 13 houses of the 38-home scheme will
receive their plant pots when they move in this autumn.
The children enjoyed getting artistic and painting the pots in a
range of bright coloured patterns.
Head Teacher of Greenfields, Terry Smith said: "It is wonderful
for the children to be able to give the new owners a personal
home-warming gift, and the children really enjoyed the
project."
Green Street sales manager for Blueprint, Jas Khaira, went along
to the school to tell the children all about the new housing
development and give them their artistic challenge.
She said: "It was lovely to see young children creating these
plant pots as a gift for our new home owners. It adds a personal
touch to the homes and links people moving in to the area with the
local community."
Jas has been welcoming visitors to the show home since it opened
in June.
Developed by Blueprint and constructed by national building
contractors Lovell, the Green Street development in The Meadows is
located next to the Victoria Embankment and adjacent to the
fountains and neatly laid out planting beds of the Victoria
Gardens.
The houses are designed by award winning Nottingham architects
Marsh Grochowski and include many of the latest sustainable,
energy-efficient features ensuring that owners enjoy low energy
bills. These include roof-mounted solar panels, very high levels of
insulation, maximum use of natural daylight and efficient water
use.
Multi-award winning developer Blueprint, based in Nottingham,
has been responsible for two other major schemes on brownfield
sites - No.1 Nottingham Science Park, off University Boulevard, and
a new complex in Leicester called Phoenix Square which comprises
homes, office studios, independent arts cinema and café
bar.
