Nottingham law firm Rothera Dowson has again made its mark in
the World's foremost guide to Law Firms, the Legal 500, with no
fewer than seven areas of its work being recommended.
Rothera Dowson's road transport department was once again named
as the leading department of its type in the East Midlands region
by the guide, and the firm's charities and family departments were
named in the second tier of firms in Nottinghamshire and
Derbyshire.
In the guide Anton Balkitis, the partner who heads up the firm's
50-year-old road transport department, was described simply as
"excellent" and the department itself "a first-choice practice".
The guide also cited the firm's increase in work with international
hauliers and UK operator license inquiry work as one of the reasons
for its strong recommendation.
In the guide's recommendation for Rothera Dowson's family
department, senior partner Christine Doughty was described as
"highly regarded", particularly in respect of her work in complex
children cases.
Additionally, the firm also received recommendations for its
agriculture and estates, commercial litigation, commercial property
and personal tax and probate offerings.

Rothera Dowson
Rothera Dowson's managing partner, Amanda Redgate is delighted
with the firm's performance in this year's Legal 500, she says:
"We have identified where our real strengths as a firm lie, and
channelled our focus accordingly. Our strong performance in the
Legal 500 is the result of this focus, which in the past year has
seen us strengthen our core teams with the appointment of a number
of excellent new legal professionals and invest in a targeted
marketing campaign to help facilitate further growth in these
areas.
"There has been much concern in our industry regarding
forthcoming deregulation, but we believe that there will always be
a requirement for great client service through close client
relationships and consultation, and the excellent results that
these two crucial factors bring. We plan to work harder on these
elements - not the commoditisation of our services."
This pleasing result for the firm follows its equally strong
performance in the 2011 Chambers and Partners guide, which saw
managing partner Amanda Redgate and partners Anton Balkitis and Tom
Redgate identified as leaders in their fields of legal
expertise.
