New Erewash MP Jessica Lee has joined the board of
Ilkeston-based enterprise agency Erewash Partnership.
Ms Lee has replaced outgoing MP Liz Blackman, who did not
contest the seat in May's General Election.
Ian Viles, chief executive of the Partnership, which is
supported by more than 400 businesses, said he was delighted that
Ms Lee had agreed to become a member of the board.
"We feel that it is important to have the local MP on the board
of the Partnership so that she can hear the views of business as we
continue to help regenerate the area in these challenging
times.
"Jessica has previously shown her backing for local enterprise
by bringing a Shadow Minister to Long Eaton earlier this year. We
are sure that she will not hold back from voicing her opinions in
the interests of the area."
Ms Lee said: "It is a real privilege for me to be asked to join
the board of the Erewash Partnership.
"I have long been an admirer of the excellent work the
Partnership does to support business and enterprise in Erewash. I
will play my part in helping to take the Partnership forward and
backing business and jobs in Erewash."
Mr Viles also paid tribute to Liz Blackman for her commitment to
the Partnership over the years. "We are very grateful for the
support that she gave as a board member to our efforts to bring
investment, jobs and training to Erewash," he said.
Long Eaton-based TecQuipment, specialist manufacturer of
education equipment which exports to around 70 countries, is the
latest business to become a sponsor of the Partnership. Managing
director Simon Woods is the Partnership chairman.
