Highcross Leicester is set to bring another brand new retailer
to Leicester city centre on Saturday as Jones Bootmaker opens its
doors in the centre.
Opening on Highcross' upper east mall in the site formerly
occupied by Original Shoe Co., Jones Bootmaker joins the likes of
Lipsy and Foot Asylum - both of which opened in June this year - as
a new retailer to the city, making it the 66th to come to Leicester
since Highcross' launch in 2008.
Specialising in contemporary footwear, Jones Bootmaker stocks a
wide selection of brands, including the likes of Ted Baker, Clarks
Originals, Hush Puppies and Ikon.
The opening of the store on September 18 is the third to open
since new general manager Mark Murphy took over the Highcross reins
earlier this summer.
Middlesbrough-born Mr Murphy - a keen sportsman and Triathlon
competitor who currently lives in Northampton - formerly vice
president of global operations for Regus, brings a wealth of retail
and leisure experience to Highcross. Other previous roles include
operations director at Holmes Place Health and Fitness as well as
group development manager at Specsavers. Father of two Mr Murphy
also spent nine years with Woolworths PLC, rising to category
implementation manager. He took over the management of the
£350 million Highcross development from former general
manager Tom Nathan in May 2010.
He said: "In the two years that it has been open, Highcross has
made a huge impact on the city centre, attracting millions of
visitors to the area and creating a new ambiance within Leicester.
I am looking forward to playing a significant role in the
development of the city in the coming years, and welcoming new
retailers such as Jones Bookmaker is a way of adding to the
brilliant offering that Highcross - and indeed Leicester - already
has.
"In addition to boosting the number of retailers that we have
here at Highcross, Jones' will also bring new jobs to the city,
which is fantastic news."
Since the start of 2010, Highcross has welcomes eight new stores
in addition to Jones Bootmaker, including fashion stores Bank,
Lipsy, JD Sports and Foot Asylum, eateries Kona Blue and
Café Rouge in St Peter's Square as well as The Gym and Form
Lifestyle & Spa on Causeway Lane
