A huge Volvo tipper truck supplied by the Midlands-based
Hartshorne Group will be carrying quarried roadstone the length and
breadth of the country.
Hartshorne has supplied a Volvo FM 420 8x4 tipper truck to
owner-operator Dave Darcy who transports roadstone for Lafarge
Aggregates. The truck is based, along with his two other trucks, at
the Lafarge quarry in Mountsorrel near Loughborough.
The 420 horsepower truck has been supplied from Hartshorne's
Burton-on-Trent depot.
Dave Darcy said the truck was his first Volvo, and would be
transporting aggregates to Edinburgh in the north and Kent and
Suffolk in the south.
"I do a very high mileage so I need reliability, which is why I
chose Volvo. You also get excellent after-sales service from
Hartshorne and good residual values when you come to dispose of the
vehicle," he said.
Lafarge Aggregates is one of the leading UK suppliers of
roadstone, advanced asphalts and natural and recycled aggregates,
supplying 20 million tonnes a year to construction sites around the
country. Five million tonnes of granite are extracted from the
Mountsorrel quarry each year.
The Hartshorne Group is the Volvo Trucks agent for the Midlands,
with 11 depots across central England. In addition the company
distributes Hino Trucks and Lawrence David trailers throughout the
region. Hartshorne also offers truck maintenance, body repair
services, hydraulic parts and driver training.
