Two teams of mountain men from Mansell Construction reached new
heights in their latest challenge to scale the highest mountains in
England, Scotland and Wales and raise cash for charity. Both teams
clinched a coveted Gold medal.
The two teams from Mansell's Stourbridge-based Western region
successfully completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, scaling
the heights of Britain's highest peaks.
Team One completed the challenge in just 17 hours and 39
minutes, securing a gold medal, and finishing just nine minutes
short of a Platinum. Team Two completed in 19 hours and 45 minutes,
also earning a Gold medal.
The teams scaled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Each team
consisted of five climbers plus drivers.
Their exploits, along with support from Mansell's supply chain
partners, have raised funds to be donated to a number of charities
including Acorns Children's Hospice Trust, the British Heart
Foundation, Diabetes UK, Derby Hospital Charitable Trust for Head
and Neck Cancer Treatment, Cancer Research UK, Midlands Air
Ambulance and the Fire Fighters Charity.
Team One was captained by Steve Wedge while the Team Two captain
was Gerry Iafrati.
Mansell regional managing director Steve Davies said, "This was
another fantastic team effort following on from our gold medal
achievement last year. For Team One to get so close to Platinum was
tremendous and really gives us something to aim for next year
- and the real pleasure is in having been able to raise money
for our very good and deserving causes."
