Lincolnshire agency Shooting Star PR has proved it's one of the
best small PR consultancies in the UK after being shortlisted
in not one but two categories for the 2010 CIPR PRide
Awards.
The Lincoln-based consultancy is up for Outstanding Small
Consultancy and Best Publication for Enterprise magazine which
it produced in partnership with graphic designers Studio View
on behalf of the University of Lincoln.
Established in September 2006 by Directors Jez Ashberry and Kate
Strawson, Shooting Star PR was Lincoln's first specialist
public relations agency.
Despite the recession the business, which represents some of the
best known organisations in the county including animal
nutrition experts Alltech, the Lincoln Hotel and The Old
Station Nursery, has doubled in size in the last two
years.
Shooting Star PR now has five employees and recently took on its
first Rising Star as part of a new scheme to develop young
talent at the University of Lincoln.
Carly Smith, a second-year marketing and public relations
student, was recruited in May on a year's placement to gain
work experience with the consultancy.
The PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the
best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and
nations.
Commenting on Shooting Star PR's success Director Kate Strawson
said: "We're delighted to have reached the shortlist for the
Yorkshire and Lincolnshire area 2010 CIPR Pride Awards. It's
proof to our colleagues and clients that the work we produce
work is among the best in the UK - and a real feather in our
cap.
"We're really looking forward to the PRide Awards Dinner in
Leeds on 10th November when we'll find out whether we've won.
I went to last year's event for the first time and the
standard of entries was exceptionally high so it's a really
honour just to have been shortlisted."
CIPR President Jay O'Connor said: "I offer my congratulations to
all those who have reached this stage of the competition. Now
more than ever, demonstrating the value of what we do, and the
positive impact we have, is tremendously important. Thank you
to all involved - the entrants, judges and teams."
