Shrewsbury based vehicle hire specialist Jolly Good Van Hire has
stepped forward to support a St. Modwen cycle team in their bid to
raise £50,000 for charity.
With less than a month to go until four property professionals
from St. Modwen's Midlands and North Staffordshire regions get on
their bikes to complete a 900 mile cycle ride from Lands End to
John O'Groats, Jolly Good Van Hire has offered the team transport
throughout the challenge, to support their efforts to raise
£50,000 for charity.
St. Modwen regional director Mike Herbert, senior development
surveyor Mike Murray and development managers Andrew Cox and
Jonathan Green, will form a 'peloton' for the bike ride, with every
team member riding the 900 mile route, which is planned to take 10
days to complete. Jolly Good Van Hire will offer support throughout
the challenge, helping transport the team, their bikes and
equipment along the arduous route.
Jason King, director of Jolly Good Van Hire commented: "We
are delighted to be able to assist in supporting the St. Modwen
team in their fundraising challenge. We have specially adapted a
vehicle to ensure the safe transport of the team and all of their
equipment along the route so they can focus fully on successfully
completing the cycle challenge. We wish the team the best of luck
for the ride."
Andrew Cox, development surveyor for St. Modwen added: "The
support we have received locally since announcing the Land's End to
John O'Groats Challenge has been fantastic. We have received
sponsorship support from a raft of local companies and to have
Jolly Good Van Hire step forward to ensure our safe transit
throughout the challenge is fantastic. We truly feel like we have
the whole region spurring us on to complete the cycle challenge and
raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities."
Headquartered in Quinton, Birmingham, St. Modwen operates
through a network of seven regional offices, with a portfolio of
more than 160 diverse development schemes. The Land's End to John
O'Groats Challenge cycle team consists of St. Modwen team members
from the Midlands and North Staffordshire regions. The cyclists are
set to visit both the Bristol and Warrington offices as they
complete their journey; and they will also pass many of St.
Modwen's individual schemes as they follow their pre-planned route
from south to north.
A major fundraising drive has now been launched to secure
support for the challenge, and each rider is now following an
intensive training regime to ensure they are physically and
mentally prepared for the gruelling ride ahead. Throughout the
course of the 900 mile bike ride each rider will burn approximately
60,000 calories and each individual will perform more than 500,000
pedal strokes as they make their way from coast to coast.
Each team member has selected a charity of personal importance
to benefit from the funds raised through the cycling challenge:
The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust runs a comprehensive
children's hospice service within Staffordshire and South Cheshire,
providing respite and end of life care for children with life
threatening conditions.
Breast Cancer Campaign's mission is to beat breast cancer by
funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast
cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment,
prevention and cure.
The British Heart Foundation envisages a world where people do
not die prematurely from heart disease, and looks to achieve this
through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring
quality care and support for everyone living with heart
disease.
The James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer is the UK's leading
specialist kidney cancer charity. It seeks to help reduce the harm
caused by kidney cancer by increasing knowledge and awareness,
providing patient information and by supporting research into the
causes, prevention and treatment of the disease.
