Pottery success story Emma Bridgewater is proving a big hit with
North Staffordshire job-hunters.
Just a few days after advertising a series of vacancies at the
historic Eastwood Works in Lichfield Street, Hanley, more than 250
people have sent in their CVs hoping to work for the company.
A total of ten jobs were advertised for Sponge Fettlers, Kiln
Operatives, Earthenware Casters; Sponge Decorators, Warehouse
Operatives and a Customer Services Assistant. They will bring
the Stoke-on-Trent based workforce up to 165.
Said Stephen Hyde, managing director: "In this, our 25th
anniversary year, the business is growing at a rapid pace and we
need experienced people to help us continue to achieve great
things.
"The high calibre of applicants shows this city is still the
best place in the world to produce pottery. We asked for
experienced individuals and that's exactly what we've got.
"But, of course, we can't afford to rest on our laurels and we
know that we also need to invest in training the next generation of
pottery workers, which is why we have recently taken on a number of
apprentices."
The closing date for applications for the jobs has now passed
and interviews will be taking place over the next couple of
weeks.
