The IT Applications Team at heavyweight law firm Freeth
Cartwright is on the road to winning 3 coveted industry awards. The
first win, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce's
Nottinghamshire's Best Business Awards 2010 award, Innovation
through Technology, was announced last Friday at a gala dinner at
Colwick Hall Hotel.
Peter Smith, Freeth Cartwright's chief executive said: "We are
delighted to win. Our overriding objective is to provide a quality
legal service to our clients, and we constantly review how best to
do that and this award recognises this. We have a high
calibre of lawyers and our task is to make it as easy as possible
for those lawyers to work day to day."
Bethan Davies, head of the Team, added: "We recognise that to
improve efficiency, lawyers need as much information as possible,
including their files, at their fingertips. Our in-house
development team therefore designed, created and implemented "Case
Viewer", a comprehensive electronic working environment for
lawyers. Case Viewer means that we can store information
quickly and recall it instantly and it also enables our clients to
access their own file information 24/7 via our extranet."
The second award, the Law Society Excellence in Innovation
Award, will be announced on 21st October. Entries have been
invited 'from innovative teams across the legal services sector who
can demonstrate cutting edge business practice and client service'.
Freeth Cartwright is one of the 6 firms shortlisted.
The third award is for the Small IT Department of the Year for
the 2010 BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Award. Winners will be
announced at the awards evening on 11 November.
David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer, BCS, The Chartered
Institute for IT, said: "Congratulations to all the finalists. They
can be proud of their achievements. Their projects and work
showcase the professionalism that exists among IT professionals and
also highlights the value of IT today and the way it touches so
many areas of society."
