Award-winning opticians David Burghardt Vision Care will be on
hand to offer advice and demonstrations on wearing contact lenses
at the Lindum Squash Club on Saturday 25th September.
The club, which is holding a charity squash competition on the
day in aid of the Royal Artillery, has invited practice manager and
qualified lens fitter Emma Austin to offer advice and answer
questions on wearing contact lenses.
The eyecare specialists, who have been awarded a Johnson &
Johnson Acuvue Centre of Excellence, are dedicated to delivering
the highest standards of eye care and eyewear to all their patients
using advanced technology in a friendly and a professional
environment.
One of their areas of expertise is prescribing eyewear for
sports vision - a common issue for many active people. Many
sportsmen and women find that wearing spectacles can be a
challenge, and swapping glasses for contact lenses could be the
ideal solution.
"Contact lenses tend to work better for sport than spectacles,"
said Emma. "As well as being more practical (less chance of
damaging the eyewear for example) contact lenses are much more
effective for judgment which can sometimes give you an advantage
over your opponents.
"Contact lenses provide all-round vision and are not affected by
fog or rain. They also allow better depth perception because there
is less magnification difference between eyes.
"We are delighted to be working with Lindum Squash Club and
grateful for this opportunity to demonstrate how contact lenses can
transform sport for many people with vision problems."
Lindum Squash Club is one of Lincoln's premier sporting clubs
and is part of Lindum Sports Association, an extensive sports
facility in the centre of Lincoln which also includes rugby,
cricket and a gym.
The club also offers coaching in squash and racketball for both
children and adults.
