Parents who live and work in Birmingham are invited to visit a pioneering city centre nursery that will operate as a social enterprise.

Little Mill, based at Mill Wharf, near Aston Science Park, has opened its doors and is calling on mums and dads to visit the state-of-the-art childcare centre.

The nursery, part of the Enta family, is holding two open days between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday 22 and Saturday 25 September.

Staff will be on hand to provide a guided tour of the nursery which promises to provide a fun, caring and fulfilling environment for children aged six weeks to eight years.

Natalie Cox, Nursery Manager at Little Mill, said: "Choosing a nursery can often be a daunting experience for parents, so these open days offer the perfect chance to answer any questions.

"It is also an opportunity for us to unveil our brand new facilities and for parents to meet the nursery team.

"But that's not all - anyone who registers their child at one of our open days will receive a £10 Matalan voucher."

Little Mill is the latest initiative from Enta - an organisation that has been changing lives and communities in Birmingham for more than 30 years.

It works with vulnerable communities, providing learning opportunities, training courses, information, guidance, advice and employment support.

Teenager Cheryl Grierson was given a life-changing opportunity to secure work experience and gain childcare qualifications through Enta. She has now secured full time employment at Little Mill.

"This is the future I've dreamed of," said Cheryl, aged 18, from Yardley Wood.

"Finally someone believed in me and gave me an opportunity to better myself and I am now doing the thing I love - working with children."

Little Mill Nursery, open from 7.30am-6pm, also runs an afterschool club, holiday club and seasonal play scheme.

The nursery also backs the Government's Care to Learn initiative which allows people under the age of 20 who have one or more child, to complete a course or learning programme and receive subsidised nursery care.
