Local company, Oxalis Lighting Ltd (part of The Oxalis Group)
are pleased to announce that they have achieved the status of
approved supplier to BAE Systems Saudi Arabia.
The approval has been awarded to the company for the manufacture
and supply of safe area and hazardous area lighting, power
distribution and associated equipment. Oxalis Lighting (formerly
Smith & Prince Ltd), has 45 years experience in supplying
lighting systems for areas where the risk of explosion from the
ignition of vapour, gas or dust exist and has developed an
impressive client base including British Airways, Transco, BP,
Total, RAF & Shell.
BAE Systems have placed an initial order with Oxalis Lighting
for fifteen Type 600 lighting units, certified by ATEX and IECEX
for Zone 0, 20 areas. The units will be used by BAE Systems for
essential fuel tank inspections and maintenance tasks on aircraft
based in Abu Dhabi. The Oxalis Type 600 is an intrinsically safe,
portable device which provides a high light output through eight
high-powered LED's. The units are designed to eliminate any chance
of sparking by limiting the energy in the circuit to below ignition
point without restricting light output. They are designed and
tested for the most hazardous areas where there is a permanent
presence of gas and dust, such as fuel tanks.
Rob Whorrod, CEO of The Oxalis Group commented "We are delighted
to have gained this recognition from BAE Systems Saudi Arabia. We
believe our Type 600 unit is the only purely intrinsically-safe
inspection lamp available on the market, providing our customers
with unparalled safety and flexibility for lighting their most
hazardous environments. We look forward to developing our supplier
relationship with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia and other areas in the
future."
