Shropshire-based law firm mfg Solicitors has pulled together a
group of influential local businesses to raise funds for one of
Shropshire's hard working charities.
The successful 'Ladies Evening' event saw 20 Shropshire-based
businesses running retail stands to showcase their products and
services - with a percentage of the proceeds helping to raise funds
for Severn Hospice - a charity caring for almost 2,500 patients
each year at their clinics in Shrewsbury and Telford.
The event, held at Shrewsbury's Rybrook Mini dealership, raised
a total of £884.00. The funds raised will be placed into
mfg's charitable foundation trust, of which the Severn Hospice is a
beneficiary.
Gurdip Kaur-Brring, Private Practice Development Partner at the
Telford-based law firm added: "Businesses in Shropshire have
traditionally been great supporters of charitable work so we felt
giving them a platform to showcase their products and services
would achieve two major goals. Firstly, the event would help boost
the local economy and secondly, we would raise money for a worthy
cause through our charitable foundation work.
I'm delighted as the event has highlighted yet another way for
the business community to make a contribution and give something
back."
Sophie Yates, Legal Executive at mfg Solicitors said: "Through
our charitable foundation Severn Hospice is one of our chosen
charities for 2010. We wanted to organise an event to show our
support and more importantly, raise awareness of the amazing work
they do for so many across Shropshire. It was a tremendous
success."
Lucy Proctor, Community Fundraising Manager for the Severn
Hospice, commented: "We are an independent charity and therefore
rely on the goodness of local businesses and people to help raise
funds. The event really caught the imagination and we can't thank
everyone enough for their hard work and kindness."
