Lincoln-based Optima Graphic Design Consultants has successfully
won a contract to work alongside Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
(NWT) to work on the charity's new Wildlife in the City community
project.
Optima has already created a new brand identity for the project,
which aims to build connections between people living in the city
and the green spaces close to them.
Stuart Davis, account manager at Optima, said: "We're thrilled
to bits that we have secured the work for this new and exciting
project. We've worked with the trust for a number of years
and earlier this year worked on its Mini Meadow Campaign which was
a massive success across the region."
Wildlife in the City is a £400,000 campaign which aims to
promote a sense of pride and ownership in Nottingham's green spaces
by giving communities a "hands on" experience with nature.
Run by the NWT and Nottingham City Council, the campaign is
funded by Natural England through Access to Nature, as part of the
Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme.
The campaign aims to appeal to Nottingham's diverse community
and engage and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to learn
about the fantastic wildlife that is on their doorstep.
Stuart added: "Our first task was to come up with an identity
for the project and a colour palette that not only hit the brief,
but sat well with the existing Wildlife Trust brand.
"The chosen logo was a 'stencilled' style, which we felt worked
well as it is reminiscent of certain types of graffiti art and
would further add to the juxtaposition of urban and natural
environments. A paw-print 'tag' was also explored to
represent urban wildlife establishing a presence, making itself
known to a community who have forgotten it exists."
The Trust's Erin McDaid, said: "The logo and styling work that
Optima have done to date has enabled us to kick start this
important new project with a clear identity. We are now looking
forward to working with their creative team to develop a wider bank
of design templates, icons and other imagery to help establish the
brand."
Now the campaign has been launched, Optima will be working on
creating a range of literature and materials, both printed and
online, which can be used for all future events that take place in
the city of Nottingham.
