Derby County footballers Ben Pringle and Dean Moxey joined the
Mayor of Derby to launch a new social enterprise at the Derwent
Business Centre.
Kleensafe is a not-for-profit property clearance and cleaning
company, which aims to support vulnerable adults by giving them a
first job opportunity.
The company's services cover house and rubbish clearance,
including safe removal of drug paraphernalia, end of tenancy
cleaning, and outbuilding and garden clearance.
The Mayor of Derby, Amar Nath, who officially opened the
business, said: "I am delighted to celebrate the launch of a
business that will change people's lives."
Dawn Briscoe, managing director of Kleensafe said: "I chose the
Derwent Business Centre due to the good incentitives it offered,
which made it stand out for me from all the other places in the
area.
"It has all the facilities that we need, including a spacious
conference room and flexible office space, so it is ideal for a new
business like us."
The centre is due to be refurbished in a £100,000
investment programme by Blueprint, the sustainable developer that
owns the building. It offers space from 300 to 1,800 square feet,
and recent improvements have included replacing heating and
lighting system with energy-efficient systems plus a facelift for
the spectacular vaulted reception area.
Blueprint has invested continually in the converted railway
warehouse since it was acquired five years ago. The Victorian
building is part of the company's £19 million investment
portfolio, which includes properties across Derby and
Derbyshire.
A public-private partnership, Blueprint is best known for major
urban regeneration projects such as Nottingham Science Park and
Phoenix Square digital media centre in Leicester, but it also owns
property across the East Midlands, much of it in the Derby
area.
