A team of property professionals from the midlands have retained
their title in the annual Surveyors Challenge Charity Rugby Match
after beating their Yorkshire counterparts for the second year
running.
The Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds was the venue for the
closely fought match, sponsored by leading Midlands's developer
Stoford, which eventually saw the Midlands Surveyors XV beat their
northern rivals, 38-28.
The match raised over £3,000 for Cure Leukaemia and the
Edwards Trust and was organised by Jonathan Robinson of DTZ and
Adam McGuinness of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in the midlands and Rob
Whatmuff, Lambert Smith Hampton and Dave Robinson, JLL in Leeds. In
addition to support from Stoford, other sponsors included, the
Industrial Agents Society, Zero Trace, GR8 Security, The Bottom
Line and KGA.
Spectators from the midlands and the north observed the match,
which was followed by food, drinks, a charity raffle and
entertainment.
Dan Gallagher, Director at Stoford, said: "Last year saw the
midlands team achieve a resounding victory on home turf in
Birmingham as they beat Yorkshire 57-5, however this year was a
more closely fought match with both teams demonstrating a fantastic
display of rugby."
Jonathan Robinson, Associate Director at DTZ in Birmingham,
added: "On behalf of the event organisers, I would like to thank
our generous sponsors and our northern friends and colleagues for
their hospitality. We look forward to welcoming them back to the
midlands next year for what already looks set to be an interesting
match.
"We are already in talks to set up a registered Midlands
Property Rugby Club with regular fixtures against other
professional services organisations."
