Emma Boynton, the Head of Sales and Marketing at Loughborough
University based imago, has been named the Chair of VENUEMASTERS -
an industry body which represents over 85 academic venues in the
UK.
VENUEMASTERS offers a free venue finding service but is also a
national organisation giving a voice to academic venues across the
Country. Emma takes on the role as Chair at an important time for
VENUEMASTERS, as the hospitality industry becomes more competitive
in the aftermath of the recession and Universities look to generate
more income following the well publicized funding cuts.
Emma Boynton, said: "VENUEMASTERS is key in promoting academic
venues and it has played a significant part in imago's success in a
competitive and tough marketplace. With the promised funding cuts,
hospitality and conferencing arms of UK Universities are going to
be put under more pressure so support from organisations such as
VENUEMASTERS will be vital in the year ahead.
"On a personal note, I wanted to take the position as Chair to
extend my involvement in the industry and to gain a deeper insight
into all academic venues. In a market that is highly competitive, I
believe academic venues have something unique to offer to
customers. We need to be shouting about these benefits and
highlighting the services that make our venues the perfect
destination for events and accommodation."
Emma was elected to the VENUEMASTERS board two years ago and
became Chair in November.
