The University of Northampton has been recognised with a WISE
Award for its work in promoting higher education in the areas of
Science and Engineering to girls and young women.
Trish Goodchild, School of Science and Technology, The
University of Northampton, received the WISE Outreach Award from
HRH The Princess Royal, the Royal Patron of WISE, at the recent
awards ceremony at the Institution of Engineering and Technology,
Savoy Place, London.
Trish Goodchild commented: "We are absolutely thrilled to
have our work recognised with a WISE Award. The Outreach Award in
particular is given to a University who has implemented and is
determined to sustain a set of successful outreach strategies to
support and encourage more female students into STEM subjects."
Terry Marsh, Director of WISE, added: "The fact that The
University of Northampton has an official 'Champion for Girls' in
Trish is very impressive, together with the fact that they start
their outreach activities early in primary school."
This was the second time in two months that Trish had met HRH
The Princess Royal, following her visit in September to open the
new Science and Technology building - Newton - at The University of
Northampton's Avenue Campus.
