Spanner's Legends of Dart night
Business is booming for a Shropshire pub after a successful
darts event which saw two former world champions roll back the
years.
Nearly 200 fans flocked to the Callow Inn in Bromlow to see a
special Legends of Darts night staged by FatSpanner Ltd, the UK's
leading provider of quiz machines.
Former world champions Eric 'The Crafty Cockney' Bristow and
John 'Old Stoneface' Lowe took to the oche to play 16 games of
darts against pub regulars and guests whose names were drawn out of
a hat, before entertaining fans with stories from when they were
both at the pinnacle of the sport back in the 1980s and 90s.
"This was one of the most well-attended evenings we've ever
staged, especially when you consider it was held in the busy run up
to Christmas," Paul Slavin, Director for FatSpanner Ltd, revealed.
"John and Eric put on a great show and all the people lucky enough
to get to play against them had an experience they'll never forget
- it's not every day when you get to take on a world champion."
"Everyone who came to the show also got two signed photos of
Eric and John, who stayed well into the night chatting and having
their pictures taken in the bar," Paul added.
Eric Bristow commented: "John and I had a very enjoyable
evening. Everyone at the Callow Inn made us feel really welcome and
the standard of the local players was excellent - who knows, with a
bit of practice they might have another world champion on their
hands here in a few years time!"
