Nottingham lad Daniel Willis showed he was top of the pile at
the recent Renault Trucks achievers event, taking home the year two
Apprentice of the Year prize.
Daniel was recognised after his work with Nottingham-based RH
Commercial Vehicles (RHCV) after they provided him with an
apprenticeship whilst he works towards his vehicle technician
qualification.
Daniel, who was one of only three apprentices to be recognised
for his outstanding achievements said, "RHCV has given me the
opportunity to develop my skills as a vehicle technician. Getting
hands on experience in a real working environment has been
invaluable."
RHCV is committed to providing a platform for young people to
complete their qualifications. Nigel Baxter, Managing Director at
RHCV, said, "We are passionate about apprenticeship schemes like
the one offered at Renault Trucks. They have become crucial in the
development of skills required to service and maintain commercial
vehicles."
"We are delighted Daniel has been recognised for his
achievements during his apprenticeship with us," continued Nigel.
"We are committed to providing opportunities for apprentices like
Daniel, who are the next generation."
Daniel's achievements are even more impressive considering the
Renault Trucks Advanced Apprentice Programme now has 60 apprentice
technicians enrolled.
Brian Burns, training manager at Renault Trucks UK Ltd, said,
"It's important to recognise the achievements and commitments of
our apprentices who have worked hard to improve their skills at the
dealerships that employ them. Being a commercial vehicle technician
isn't just about getting dirty anymore, technology has moved on and
a high level of competence in electronics and computer diagnostics
is required to work with today's trucks and vans, as well as the
core mechanical disciplines."
