A Shrewsbury dental clinic has appointed an additional dentist
to meet the substantial increase in patient demand that followed
its acquisition last year by Velvet Group.
After purchasing the clinic, which is based on Oxon Business
Park, Velvet announced The Dental Spa was to become the hub
practice for its Shropshire group. Since then the practice has gone
from strength to strength, increasing its team of clinicians,
offering new services and extending its opening hours.
The latest member to join The Dental Spa team is Roy Dixon BDS
MA MGDS RCSI. Mr Dixon, who comes from Warwick, spent seventeen
years as a Dental Officer in the British Armed Forces before going
into private practice in 2003. During his time with the British
Army he completed operational tours in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and
the Gulf as well as working in Germany and the UK.
The holder of nine professional body memberships Mr Dixon is
currently President of the British Society for General Dental
Surgery, Co-Chair of the British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry
Midlands Study Group and an MGDS Tutor with the Central London CPD
Study Group.
Qualified in both implantology and cosmetic dentistry, Mr Dixon
became something of a local celebrity a few years ago when he
completed two cosmetic dental treatment makeovers on ITV's "Make me
Perfect" programme. He later appeared on GMTV and, in 2006, was
"General Dentist of the Year" within the James Hull Group.
Welcoming Mr Dixon to The Dental Spa, Velvet Group director,
Mark Harris, said: "Velvet's investment in The Dental Spa
established the first hub for the Shropshire region and created a
blue print model for future practice development. Our patient
focused values centre on professional excellence and quality
assured customer care provided by high calibre teams. Roy fits
every one of our values and Velvet are delighted that The Dental
Spa has chosen to appoint him."
