Chartered accountants Clement Keys latest client the Bed Bug
Foundation has created a stir and the telling of many bed bug
horror stories as the not-for-profit group is dedicated to raising
awareness of and improving bed bug management.
The Bed Bug Foundation was set up by and is led by Oliver Madge,
the high profile former chief executive of the British Pest Control
Association and co-author of the British Pest Management Manual.
"Dealing with bed bugs is clearly a very different type of
businesses for us to be handling," says Clement Keys partner Fleur
Holden.
"I'm sure most people would be shocked to learn just how quickly
an infestation can spread, and where infestations are now being
identified, high profile hotels and retail shops included! The
problems with bed bugs are on the rise all around the world, and
with the focus on the UK in 2012, there is a genuine need for the
kind of support the Foundation offers.
Bed bugs feed on human blood and over the last few years there
has been a dramatic increase in cases, up by a reported 500%,
making the need for effective bed bug awareness and communication -
both in terms of prevention and cure - all the more important.
The Bed Bug Foundation co-ordinates independent research in
conjunction with the pest management industry, accommodation
providers and home owners to help maintain professional standards.
It also has a panel of independent experts who can provide advice
as and when it is needed.
Clement Keys is providing assurance services and business advice
to the Bed Bug Foundation. "We are very pleased to be connected
with Clement Keys and reassured that the trustees and the partners
of the Foundation will be safely guided through the necessary
returns and submissions that a charity will need to make. Bed
Bugs are a bigger bug than most people think and so the need to
raise awareness must operate at all levels," says Oliver Madge, Bed
Bug Foundation.
The firm is also ensuring that the foundation complies with the
requirements of the Charity Commission and the Charities SORP.
