West Midlands companies specialising in environmental
technologies are being invited to investigate opportunities in the
UK's second largest export market in South East Asia.
UK Trade & Investment's West Midlands international trade
team is organising a market visit to Malaysia on 19-26th February
2011. The closing date for applications is 19th January
2011.
Malaysia is one of the UK's fastest growing markets - in 2008
our exports to the country were valued at £1.14 billion.
Malaysia's rapid economic growth coupled with its progressive
policies and legislation are driving the demand for environmental
goods and services.
Key areas of opportunity include:
• Solid waste management
• Air pollution control
• Consultancy work
• Water and waste water
While these are key areas, there is a demand for all types of
goods and services within the environmental sector.
Participation in this visit is free of charge. Some of the
benefits provided by UK Trade & Investment include:
• High Commission briefing on conducting business in
Malaysia
• Meetings with key stakeholders from business and
government
• Meetings with Malaysian environmental associations
• Opportunity to commission an individual business visit
programme
• Grant of £500 towards travel and accommodation
costs.

"English is widely spoken in Malaysia and its business law is
based on the British system meaning the country offers an ideal
entry to the fast growing Asian markets. This visit gives companies
a great opportunity to explore this exciting market at an important
time when progressive legislation is driving increasing demand for
environmental goods and services"
