Fraser Brown Solicitors is supporting the next crop of legal
professionals with the appointment of a promising law graduate to
its team. Natalie Barnes (23) joined the firm after graduating from
Nottingham University and was delighted with the welcome she
received.
She said, "I was attracted to Fraser Brown by a number of things
really - I liked how the firm's outlook was quite forward-thinking,
and their specialisation in commercial property appealed to my
interests."
Originally from Epsom, South London, Natalie was originally
drawn northwards by the University of Nottingham's law course,
respectable reputation and attractive campus. Being able to start
work in the same city was just one of her new job's many
attractions.
Natalie may have escaped the hustle and bustle of the capital,
but she's never been so busy.
"Since I've been here work has been picking up and I've been
really busy. I'm really enjoying it, both the office-based side and
getting the chance to meet people and making connections.
"I've been given some exciting work and allowed to run some of
my own matters from start to finish, which has been a great
experience. There's been an ideal balance between pressure and
support - I've been given responsibilities and room to develop, yet
I know there's always someone I can go to if I need help."
Her first two years at Fraser Brown will be divided between four
different seats, each in a different department, so that she may
experience working in a number of sectors. Her current seat is in
commercial property, which at this point, looks like a favourite to
work in permanently.
"I've pictured myself working in commercial property ever since
looking into it during my studies and I'm really enjoying doing it
for real. But I'm now eager to try a range of seats and to see
which suits me the most. For the moment I'm keeping an open mind,
and seeing where it takes me."
Managing Partner Peter Thornley said: "At Fraser Brown we
recognise how important it is to support up-and-coming talent. We
give trainees responsibility from early on so that they can develop
their professional skills, but also make sure to provide an
effective support network for them to fall back on if needed.
"Through these means, we hope to give law graduates the best
start to their careers as possible. Natalie has settled into Fraser
Brown really well and we look forward to welcoming further trainees
to our team in the future."
