National property and construction consultancy Wakemans is on
target to complete a nationwide £6 million rebranding project
for the UK's fastest growing hotel chain Travelodge Hotels.
Travelodge recently acquired 52 Mitchells and Butler (M and B)
hotels and Wakemans has deployed a team of quantity surveyors and
project managers to rebrand each one. The premises, which are
located across the UK from Glasgow and Perth in Scotland to
Cardiff, Plymouth and Essex, will be completed in a series of two
week projects for each group of six sites.
The entire project is to be completed within five months whilst
all the premises continue trading.
Steve Gascoyne, associate director at Wakemans, comments: "This
is a large, complex project which requires intensive management
input. Each property is completely different and requires its own
schedule of work. However, we are on schedule to complete on time
and on budget."
Travelodge has negotiated long leases which enhances their
portfolio to 452 hotels and more than 30,000 rooms.
Wakemans initially played a vital due diligence role on behalf
of Travelodge, inspecting the M and B properties and preparing
detailed reports on each, including assessments of environmental
hazards, building restrictions, access, condition and a calculation
of future costs and liabilities.
