Titanic Brewery was among North Staffordshire businesses helping
a TV cooking show winner raise funds for charity.
The Burslem brewery provided beer to Come Dine With Me
contestant Matt Wilcox for his appearance on the cult Channel 4
show.
And brewery director Dave Bott joined Matt and fellow contestant
Rob McNamara for a charity fund raising session at the Brown and
Green store, Trentham Shopping Village.
Brown and Green, which specialises in quality regional produce
and stocks Titanic Brewery's bottled range, provided food for
Matt's TV menu. The store is hosting a Titanic Tasting Day on 18
December.
Matt, 31, came joint first in a Come Dine With Me show featuring
contestants from Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area.
A Stoke-on-Trent city councillor, Matt decided to use local
produce for his appearance on the show and use the publicity from
it to raise funds for ARCH North Staffordshire and the Donna Louise
Trust - and he persuaded Rob to join in the fund raising efforts at
Trentham Shopping Village.
Visitors to Brown and Green received a mince pie and a tipple of
Titanic's Christmas ale in return for a charity donation. There was
also an opportunity to buy a printed menu featuring Matt's Come
Dine With Me feast.
"It is great that Matt wanted to showcase local products as part
of his TV appearance and we were very happy to be able to help.
Having seen him on television, it is nice to finally meet
Matt and to support him in his charity fund raising efforts," said
Dave Bott.
Susie Keenan, of Brown and Green, added: "I love the Come
Dine with Me show, so was very excited that local contestant Matt
Wilcox decided to come and do some of his shopping with us when
they filmed the Stoke show.
"He was very keen to buy and promote local food, and wanted to
provide top quality produce and a great experience for his guests.
We were delighted to welcome Matt and Rob to the store and to
help him to raise money for two good local causes."
Matt also decided to donate his £500 prize to charity and
raised funds for Children in Need by cooking dishes from his menu
at the Emma Bridgewater factory café.
