The first two phases of low energy, sustainable housing
development, Green Street in The Meadows, have astonished by
selling entirely off plan three months before the first houses
reach practical completion.
For sustainable developers, Blueprint, this success is a clear
vote of confidence and an indication of future demand for the rest
of the £8m scheme, which will comprise 38 homes in
total.
The development, which is a mixture of three and four bed
contemporary town houses, was designed by Marsh Grochowski
architects and positioned next to the picturesque Victoria Gardens
on Trent Embankment.
John Long, commercial director at Blueprint, said: "We loved
this project from the day we first saw the site, so we're delighted
to see the market loving it too.
"These sales are a clear signal to the property industry that
there is a real and immediate demand out there for a more
architectural approach to design and a more sustainable, low energy
product.
"The sales are also a vote of confidence in their Meadows
location next to the River Trent and within ten minutes walk of
both Nottingham city centre and West Bridgford. This is an
area of Nottingham that has been severely undervalued in the past,
and something our buyers have been quick to respond to."
The scheme builds on Blueprint's core values of design quality
and sustainability features. Features include solar supplemented
electric, whole-house heat recovery, super insulation and air
tightness way above new building standards.
The homes are priced £175,000-£235,000 and are being
sold nationally by Savills and locally by West Bridgford-based
Royston and Lund.
Multi-award winning developer Blueprint, based in Nottingham,
has been responsible for two other major schemes on brown field
sites - No.1 Nottingham Science Park, off University Boulevard, and
a new complex in Leicester called Phoenix Square which comprises
homes, office studios, independent arts cinema and café
bar.
