Hayley Kennedy and Elayna Smith of Beswicks property team have recently been advising Newcastle-under- Lyme Borough Council on procurement and construction issues affecting the new £12 million Health and Wellbeing Centre which is being developed on Brunswick Street.

NHS North Staffordshire is working in partnership with the borough council on the project. Other partners include Sport England. 

Planning permission for the project was granted on 9 March 2010 and work is due to start on construction later in 2010.

The new centre will make a significant contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of the borough's population and will offer the following leisure facilities:

• 25-metre, eight lane swimming pool

• 12m x 10m training pool with moveable floor and aqua gym equipment

• 12m climbing wall, 4m bouldering and traverse wall

• Cafe

• 90-station fitness centre

• Interactive children's activity zone

• Health suite comprising sauna, steam and feature showers

• 28m x 14m dance studio/multi-purpose room
