Nottingham-based B2B specialist Press For Attention PR will be
leaving the warm confines of the office this month as owner Greg
Simpson heads off on his bike across the region to raise funds for
cancer charity campaign "Movember".
Equipped with only a huge false moustache, a high-vis jacket and
a bike, Greg will depart from Nottingham on the 24th November and
cycle across the region in the process of doing his day job and
attending client meetings.
Whilst on the road, Greg will blog, tweet and speak about his
travels and travails, seeking to raise publicity and funds for the
Movember cause via ad hoc donations from clients, suppliers and the
public. Greg will also be giving free PR Coaching sessions to
businesses in exchange for a charitable donation and/or board and
lodging in some cases.
Greg, who is now rapidly realising that it might get a bit wet
and tiring on the road said: "As many people know from some
pretty hideous pictures, I've always had a bash at Movember,
normally by attempting to grow a moustache of my own. Success of
this in terms of facial adornment and fund raising has been
'patchy' at best, so I wanted to come up with something a bit more
eye-catching whilst still being able to run my clients' PR
campaigns.
"I hit upon the idea of the bike ride when I heard about the
university bike loan scheme on the radio. So I talked to Sustrans -
the charity behind it who specialise in cycling - and they offered
to loan me a bike as well as some great advice for my
adventure."
Jo Ward, Sustrans Ucycle project manager said: "We wish
Greg huge luck on his fundraising ride and hope our bike carries
him and his moustache well on his journey. Usually our bikes are to
get people from A to B but he's going all the way to Z and back.
Good luck Greg."
