Oakland International, a Redditch-based multi temperature supply
chain specialist in warehousing and logistics, has won the
Commitment to the Community award at this year's first ever
Midlands Family Business Awards, held at Thrumpton Hall in
Nottinghamshire on 11th November.
A glittering event, launched by the Wilson Organisation to
recognise and celebrate the successes of family businesses and
their leaders in the Midlands, the not-for-profit awards event
highlighted achievements of Midlands-based family businesses and
their leaders. Oakland International MD, Dean Attwell, said he was:
"Delighted. What a fantastic event and to have been amongst such an
array of amazing family businesses was truly awesome."
Oakland International, as a local family-based employer, has a
strong tradition of working with neighbouring schools and colleges
supporting learning based initiatives, and promoting the benefits
of languages on future career prospects. Involvement in Young
Enterprise and a whole host of other fundraising initiatives,
Oakland maintains a strong tradition of developing close links with
the wider community which they believe is: "Fundamental to any
successful business." Dean adding further said: "Investing in our
community and our team to better personal career prospects, we
believe is paramount, not only to personal progression but
essential to Oakland's continued business success."
Oakland has already won the 2010 Chamber of Commerce
Environmental Award, Worcestershire, and is a finalist in the
Worcestershire Ambassadors Corporate Social Responsibility Awards
to be announced later this month.
