Nottingham-based design agency Nzime has just completed work on
the new Official Facebook Application for Kinect Sports, one of the
launch titles on the ground-breaking Kinect system for the Xbox 360
games console.
The pioneering, hands-free motion control system caused queues
across the country when it was launched to great acclaim earlier
this month. Using a camera, motion sensors and microphone, it
allows players to take control of a game without the need for a
controller.
Now, players of the Kinect Sports game, are able to share their
experiences and sporting glories with other gamers, thanks to
Nzime's new Facebook app, designed in conjunction with Rare, one of
the world's largest Microsoft Game Studios.
The app allows individuals to share their personal gaming stats,
store and share Kinect Sports video highlights, create leagues for
friends and family, or join worldwide leagues. It also offers
players the option of joining a single week-long league or
subscribing indefinitely to any of the 10 sports on offer.
"We're happy that we've developed an extremely feature-rich
Facebook app," commented Nzime's creative director and founder
Andrew Horner-Glister. 'Kinect is one of the most anticipated
arrivals in the gaming industry for years, and with Kinect Sports
being one of its highest profile games, it needed an app to
encourage a healthy competitive spirit on a global scale.
"Nzime has worked closely with the team at Rare to achieve this,
while at the same time, recognising the importance of online
privacy. Gamers can customise the settings and decide whether they
want to share information and play alongside just friends and
family, or enjoy the Kinect experience with other gamers around the
world."
Nick Burton, communications manager at Rare, added: "It's a very
exciting time for us with the release of Kinect Sports, and we are
delighted to be working with Nzime on such a feature-packed app
which really helps link the world of Sports directly to your
browser."
