Coventry University's Christmas Lecture this year is going to be
a puzzling one.
Professor Ian Stewart is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics and
the Digital Media Fellow at the University of Warwick. He is also
the author of a surprise Christmas best-seller in 2008.
Professor Stewart will be delivering the Christmas Lecture on
Wednesday 8 December in the Goldstein Lecture Theatre, Coventry
University at 6.30pm.
His book, 'Cabinet of Mathematical Curiosities,' is now
accompanied on the bookshelves by his 'Hoard of Mathematical
Treasures'. Both are filled with fascinating mathematical facts,
jokes, games and puzzles.
The lecture has been jointly organised by the Coventry branch of
the British Computer Society, The Institute of Engineering and
Technology (West Midlands Area Network) and the Faculty of
Engineering and Computing at Coventry University.
Irene Glendinning from Coventry University said:
"The annual Christmas Lecture is a must for all the family.
Professor Stewart's work is fun as well as educational and his
books not only include games and puzzles but they feature important
mathematical topics written in an easy to understand way.
"His lecture will feature a selection of material from his books
using plenty of illustrations. The evening promises to be
entertaining as well as informative."
The lecture is free and open to anyone to attend. However,
